Kit Anderson (born December 18, 1977) is an American artist.
AUTHOR: Kit Anderson wrote for The Lowdown Magazine from 2004-2007. He has published one experimental novel, Never Cry Jack (Limited Edition of 50, 2008). He is also an award-winning screenwriter. His screenplay, High School Shooter (2010), won best dialogue at the AOF Fest. In 2013, Kit attended the Squaw Valley Writer’s Conference on scholarship and studied with Gill Dennis (Walk The Line), Josh Weill (Great Glass Sea), and Alan Cheuse (Song of Slaves in the Desert). In that same year, Kit wrote a viral article on minimalism for the Matador Network called 100 Possessions. Currently, Kit has three novellas on sale: Hackenbush (2019), Kemper & the West Egg Gun Club (2019), and Dirty Davenport (2020). His latest work is a screenplay about rally-racing cars in 1911: The Grass Valley 4.
FILMMAKER: Kit Anderson first gained recognition as a director and producer of the action sports cult hit Gapers Gone Wild (2004). Critics agree this film is the most extreme movie ever made and that it’s a damn crime the movie isn’t listed on the AFI Top 100. His second film as a producer was the punk rock Mathematician’s Transdimensional Odyssey of Doom (2009) which won a Gold Medal for Excellence from the Park City Film Music Festival. Also in 2009, Kit traveled with Phantogram on their Eyelid Movies tour shooting 32 shows while managing the projection mapping during the performance. In 2011, Kit was the art director responsible for launching the inaugural Napa Valley Film Festival.
ARTIST: Kit Anderson started drawing when he was born. He began making street art in 1992 writing graffiti and painting walls in Washington D.C. and Baltimore, Maryland. During this time he bombed with Teenagers From Mars and East Coast Set. His grade school education was led by private tutors before attending Grace Academy in Hagerstown, Maryland. Kit attended Houghton College as a member of the Honors Program. He studied fine art and Western History in New York, London, and Paris before receiving a BFA in studio art. During college, Kit also worked as a product design artist for the snowboard outerwear company Westbeach, owned by Chip Wilson (future founder of LuLu Lemon). After graduation, Kit worked for the Pierre Beltrami Design Agency in Shepherdstown, West Virginia where his personal clients included Hugo Boss, Ferrari, The Washington Post, and The Million Family March. Kit is also the art director responsible for The Million Family March (2000) working directly with Louis Farrakhan and his Nation of Islam. After September 11th, Kit moved West to pursue his interests in snow sports. He worked as a product developer and design artist for the companies Burton Snowboards, Option Snowboards, Planet Earth Apparel, NJB Apparel, GMC Gloves, Dragon Optics, and DC Shoes.
PUBLIC FIGURE: Kit has been cited as one of the most influential and powerful people in the American entertainment industry (sources lacking). For a number of years, he was cited as the world's most interesting man by various media outlets (sources lacking). From 2004-2005, he was married to artist David Bowie. From 2008-2011, he was married to his writing mentor Gertrude Stein. Kit has no children and currently lives in Truckee, CA where he is running for mayor of Lake Tahoe. Vote for Kit!
